About Ashley

I’m Ashley! A former collegiate dance team coach and choreographer, most recently at Western Michigan University, Go Broncos! I also taught high school Spanish for 10 years in my hometown of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Go Wildcats! And now, I’m proud to introduce, Movimiento, the place where my
love of both dance and Spanish meet my passion for teaching!
Movimiento means movement. Learning a new language or a dance requires a commitment to a new way of being in motion.

For more than 15+ years, I’ve taught thousands of students of all ages in both dance and Spanish and I love building relationships with my students! I’m incredibly energetic and guarantee that students have an enjoyable experience when working with me!
I teach classes in a variety of styles, choreograph at both the high school and collegiate level, and judge competitions. I tutor and provide Spanish instruction for students and groups across all age levels. And, as a fluent Spanish speaker and interpreter, I’ve taken students on trips to Spain and Guatemala for both student visits and mission trips!

Spanish Services
All Level Spanish Tutoring
I offer tutoring starting at age 6 to age 18 as well as adult learners. I have taught Spanish 1-4 and AP and can help prepare your students for a test or help to practice vocabulary and reinforce grammar concepts. I can provide a fun learning experience to a beginning student or a more paced curriculum to a more serious student.
AP/IB Exam Prep
I help prepare your student with their AP or IB exams and receive college credit! I have experience with both curriculums and as a former teacher had a 96% pass rate in the AP Language and Culture Exam.
Conversational Spanish
As someone fluent in the language, I can offer a comfortable space for you or your student to practice their speaking skills.
Dance Services
Choreography
I offer choreography for competition and time out routines in the following styles: Jazz, Pom, Hip Hop and Kick.
Private Sessions
I can offer individualized instruction to your dancer, cheerleader or gymnast. This is a great tool to learn or master a skill. I am able to cater our session to many different needs and am extremely comfortable spotting for athletes of all levels.
Group Sessions
Group sessions are completely tailored to the needs of the team/group. Sessions can be used to learn both skills or choreography.
Team Camps
This service is great for dance and cheer teams looking for a more personal camp experience. I provide technical training as well as work with coaches to determine the best drills and activities specific to the group's needs.
Cleaning Consultations
During a Cleaning Consultation I act as an extra set of eyes for your team. Consults can be done virtually or in person. With my judging experience, I'm able to offer feedback on timing and skill execution and assist with creating creative transitions and improving movement quality.
Special Events
Not a student of dance but in need of help for a special occasion? I'd be honored to choreograph and instruct for events such as a wedding, birthday party, girls night out, quinceñera, etc.
